How to be a leaner cyclist in 2018

Hey David,

Just got back from the Peaks Challenge Falls Creek event and I'm inspired to climb more hills!

A day doesn't go by without someone asking me what they should do to help them climb faster. The first important thing is to understand how your power to weight ratio effects your climb. I quickly explain this is the video above, so click on the play button to watch it.

Now I'm just about to launch our very successful "Become a Leaner Cyclist" coaching package again for 2018 to help you dump your excess weight and get a leaner athletic cycling body.

And yes, amongst other benefits, it's going to help you solve some of your hill climb speed problems.

So, to kick it off, I'm running a webinar next week and in it I'll be covering off some great tips to help you become leaner. And... at the end of it I'll be offering you a special deal on our "Become a Leaner" coaching package.

If you aren't interested please feel free to completely ignore everything above and just click delete.

I'm being serious. It's ok, I promise. I won't be offended.

Still here?

Cool. So while you are waiting for your email to arrive with the webinar invite, I have some homework for you to do.

But, don't worry though, I think you'll enjoy it.

Everyone has their own personal reasons for wanting to be leaner and I'm sure that you do too. So, here is what I'd like you to do…

Task #1 - Find out your ideal and minimum ride weight

If you haven't already, please complete our "Become a Leaner Cyclist" ideal and minimum weight calculator. Most cyclists fall between the two numbers that we give you in this report. It will give you great insight into where you are at.

Now, some cyclists get some crazy numbers when they take this quiz. So if your results seem a bit off please check the numbers you entered into the calculator. There's a good chance that you have an error, like your waist measurement. Most people put their jean size which is inches, not centimetres. So, take a little extra time to measure yourself first with a tape measure rather than guessing! That way we can provide you with the most accurate results.

Task #2 - Take a moment to think about the positive changes losing a little weight will have on your cycling and your life.

Please take a moment out from the chaos around you and have a think about all the positive things in your life that would result from not having to carry around the burden of those extra kilograms.

Then list them down on a piece of paper. You don't have to share your reasons with anyone else; they are just for you. So be as personal as you want.

The reason for this is that I want you to be very clear on your personal reasons for wanting to be leaner. It's important that you do this before we catch up in the webinar.

Until the webinar all the best and ride safe.

Regards,
